Laura Laslo's acrylic paintings combine a sensitive use of color that engulfs the viewer through her ingenious use of the octagonal design and a feeling of texture within the subject. The results are both dynamic as well as intriguing leaving the viewer with a sense of inspiration and awe.
Laura holds a B.A degree from San Diego State University. Her work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Marina Del Rey, Laguna Beach, Long Beach, San Diego and throughout Mexico.
The artist describes her work in terms of the Chinese philosophy called Yin and Yang. Laura says "there is a fusion of opposing forces. The square represents man-made objects. I use the octagonal shape because it can be evolved from the square or the circle."

OCTAGONS
Paintings done in an Octagonal imagery in a gradation of colors in a module form. Laura Laslo creates a world of illusion with controlling stain painting in a hard edge technique. Unique in which the artist would like the viewer to partake in the experience of the painting by transposing the module octagons in any shape or design desire by the owner of the painting.
The Mixed Media drawings are one of emotional entity. Allowing the viewer to transcend to another dimensional environment provided by the artist. Each viewer will experience different views with each Mixed Media drawing.
The titles of the Mixed Media drawings are whimsical to better have the viewer interpret the paintings in their own imagination.
BOTANICALS
My botanical paintings were created during the covid lockdown. I wanted to convey hope and peacefulness in a time of fear and uncertainty. The botanical paintings are smaller in scale compared to my early octagon works. They are painted on primed canvas that transformed the botanical paintings into compositions that transcend abstraction and representation. I wanted to capture the uniqueness of the flowers in a geometric vertical painting matter.
CHROMATIC
My Chromatic series was created by exploring various mediums on canvas. I wanted to achieve an abstract expressionist style that juxtaposes overlapping brushstrokes with color on a primed canvas. I explored burning my canvas to infuse a smokey technique with acrylic overlay technique. I also explored working with water soluble graphite with acrylic and watercolor base paints to create a chromatic experience for the viewer. The purity of exploring with different mediums with chromatic colors on canvas was an experiment which brings solitude and peacefulness to the viewer.
